2.     Longhorne Locksmith is accredited by City & Guilds, NCFE, and MPL. We are a sole trader business operating across York and North Yorkshire.

2. Services We Provide

3.     We provide locksmith services including, but not limited to: emergency lock outs, lock changes, lock upgrades, lock repairs, UPVC locking mechanism repairs and replacements, UPVC door repairs, burglary damage repair, and home security assessments.

4.     All services are subject to availability and our ability to safely complete the work. We reserve the right to decline a job if we believe the work cannot be carried out safely or lawfully.

5.     We operate a 24-hour, 7-day, 365-day emergency call-out service across York and North Yorkshire.

3. Quotations and Pricing

6.     Where possible, we will provide a quotation before commencing work. For emergency call-outs where a site visit is required to assess the work, a final price will be confirmed on-site before any work begins.

7.     Quotations are valid for 7 days from the date provided, unless otherwise stated.

8.     Our prices include labour and parts unless otherwise stated. VAT is not applicable as we are below the VAT registration threshold.

9.     A call-out fee may apply for emergency and out-of-hours work. This will be communicated to you before we attend.

10.  If additional work is identified during a job that was not included in the original quotation, we will inform you of the additional cost and obtain your agreement before proceeding.

4. Payment

11.  Payment is due upon completion of the work unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance in writing.

12.  We accept payment by bank transfer, cash, and card. Payment details will be provided at the time of the job.

13.  If payment is not received within 14 days of the invoice date, we reserve the right to charge interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate on any outstanding balance.

5. Cancellations

14.  For planned (non-emergency) work, you may cancel your booking free of charge by giving us at least 24 hours’ notice.

15.  Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee to cover our lost time and travel costs.

16.  Emergency call-outs that have been attended cannot be cancelled. If you request that we do not proceed with the work after we have arrived at your property, a call-out charge will still apply.

6. Access and Customer Responsibilities

17.  You must provide us with safe and reasonable access to the property where the work is to be carried out.

18.  For lock-out situations, you must be able to provide proof that you are the property owner or legal occupant, or that you have the authority to request access. We may request identification before commencing work. We reserve the right to refuse service if we are not satisfied that the request is lawful.

19.  You are responsible for informing us of any relevant information about the property, including the type of locks, alarm systems, or any access restrictions that may affect the work.

20.  If we are unable to carry out the work due to circumstances within your control (for example, incorrect address, failure to provide access, or failure to be present at the agreed time), a call-out charge may apply.

7. Guarantee and Warranty

21.  All parts supplied and fitted by Longhorne Locksmith carry a 12-month warranty from the date of installation, unless otherwise stated. This covers defects in materials and workmanship.

22.  Our labour is guaranteed for 12 months from the date the work is completed.

23.  This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, fair wear and tear, attempted forced entry, or work carried out on the lock by a third party after our installation.

24.  To make a warranty claim, please contact us at jared@longhornelocksmith.co.uk or call 07590 396 086 with details of the issue. We will arrange to inspect and, where applicable, repair or replace the faulty part at no additional cost.

8. Liability

25.  We will carry out all work with reasonable skill and care. In the event that damage occurs to your property as a direct result of our negligence, we will make good the damage or compensate you for the reasonable cost of repair.

26.  During emergency lock-out situations, some damage to the existing lock or door furniture may be unavoidable. We will always use the least destructive method available and will inform you if damage is likely before proceeding.

27.  We are not liable for any pre-existing damage to your property, nor for any indirect or consequential losses arising from the services we provide.

28.  Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Data Protection and Privacy

29.  We collect and process your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

30.  We collect your name, address, contact details, and details of the services requested in order to carry out our work and communicate with you. We do not share your personal data with third parties except where required by law.

11. Circumstances Beyond Our Control

34.  We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations where such delay or failure results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, road closures, vehicle breakdown, or other events that prevent us from reaching your property safely.

35.  In such cases, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible and arrange an alternative time to carry out the work.

12. Governing Law

36.  These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

37.  Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
